let the dancing begin!

I'm going to dance again!!!!!!
So one weekend I was driving home home (Coalville) and I was listening to a Taylor Swift CD. Now Taylor and I have a love/hate relationship because sometimes I absolutely love her and sometimes I just can't stand anything about her. Weird and erratic, I know. Anyway, I heard this song called Forever and Always in the piano version and fell in love with it. So as I was driving, I started making up this whole solo routine. I had completed it within 3 days and that never happens when I choreograph anything.

Then a revelation hit me:
I could call up my old boss/coach and ask her if I could go to solo competitions with her girls and compete. So I did and she said heck yes! I was on a happy high for a week at least. I started to touch up my solo and my technique. I found this really gorgeous dress that went perfectly and fit really well. I'm all set to go and it doesn't even start till next month!!! But I'm so excited and absolutely cannot wait. I may be a little rusty but as long as I can dance and perform- I'm happy!

YAY for dance!!!

ma ma ma music!

I am a MAJOR music lover. This is kind of an obvious statement considering the fact that I am a dancer and all. But, anyway, the point is that now I've got my own walking iTunes (a.k.a. Johnny) my music library is ever increasing. Here are the top 10 personal favorites from the past couple of weeks in no particular order:

Looking Up-Paramore
Brick By Boring Brick- Paramore
Eenie Meenie- Justin Bieber
Ever After- Carrie Underwood
So Close- John McLaughlin
Teardrops On My Guitar- Taylor Swift (acoustic version ONLY)
Down-Jay Sean
Forever and Always- Taylor Swift (piano version)
Hear You Me- Jimmy Eat World
Hey, Soul Sister- Train

dancer's dilemma

wow. wow. i haven't done anything on here for a loooonnng long time. sorry 'bout that. school is ca-razy!!! i made it through my 1st semester of college just barely and now i'm starting fresh again. in everything. just a little piece of advice to future college freshmen: do not fall for the 'classic freshman mistake' which is: staying up late every night. it's not worth it. trust me.

so another discovery that has made it's presence known to me is the fact that i miss dance. a lot. i got into 2 dance classes this semester: beginning jazz and contemporary. i thought it was going to be absolutely amazing. which, i guess it is kinda, but not as much as i was expecting. i've been learning how to do pas de bourrées, and chassés, and ball changes, etc. all of which i learned when i was like, 5. i mean, in the past few years i've even taught these things to girls. needless to say, i'm a little bored and it's definitely, definitely not a challenge.
i guess my biggest dissapointment is the fact that i've worked all my life to be an exceptional dancer. my body has been through brutal beatings and that will probably come back to haunt me when i'm old and wrinkly. but that was a small price to pay for the talent that i was working towards. college hits and i realize that my whole life has been dancing, so i decided to 'take a break' from it. i stop teaching, i stop stretching, i stop dreaming dance. i come to college and for the first time in my life i can walk like a normal person without the gimp from a sore muscle. i think it's awesome. at my first college football game, i felt a real pang of loss. the cougarettes were doing their little thing on the sidelines and the whole time my body was twitching, yelling at me, questioning why i'm not out there with them. ever since then i've been in withdrawal.
with my very beginner dance classes and my unquenchable need to dance, how do i satisfy the thirst?

any advice would be lovely.

in other news: i have a new baby niece!! yay for babies! i won't get to see her for a while but her pics are sure adorable.

HALLOWEEN!!!

This halloween was the best yet! My roommate hil and I got our FHE boys to go as the Spice Girls with us. It actually wasn't that hard to convince them to do it. (I think they were secretly looking for an opportunity like this one!!!) So we made up a dance to Wannabe and it was the sensation of BYU. Everyone absolutely LOVED it. I don't have a video of it but I will post a link to facebook. The lighting is terrible, but you'll get the general idea!

Also, here are some pics from the night:
The roomies go as follows: Wendy=Wendy, Jessica=Peter Pan's Shadow, Celeste=Ballerina, Me=Posh Spice, Sarah=Beat up Utah Fan, Hil=Sporty Spice.
The boys go as follows: Me=Posh, Ramon=Scary, Johnny=Baby, Jared T=Ginger, Hil=Sporty, and Jared C=Bodygaurd/Beckham if he was being nice to me ;D

Dr. Pepper Pong!

This is how we 'mormons' have fun. Dr. Pepper pong! Haha. For the past couple of weekends, we've been going over to our FHE guys' apartment to play this game. It's so fun! The other night we decided to have a tournament and some of the guys got pretty creative ;)

The vid is super short (sorry) my memory chip ran out...

It was HI larious. I think they took the cake.

Here was my team... and my game face:

Crazy Fun

It's only been 3 weeks and it's already crazy all the time! I don't know where the time goes! In fact, I probably shouldn't be on here right now but oh well, I needed to update.

Our FHE family is pretty awesome (if you don't include the girls from the other apartment that don't ever show up.... not cool) and we've been having a blast all the time. That past FHE I taught them how to hip hop.... LOL I should have video taped it, because it was HI larious.
So here's a pic of my FHE fam and one of me and Hilary. She's one of my roommies. She's awesome. Period.

I'm a BIG girl now!

That's right! I'm now officially at BYU! (Acutally, I have been for a week) but things are finally starting to slow down. So far my roommates are amazing! We all get a long and it's been a blast so far. (And if you are reading this, don't you dare tell me that it's just the honeymoon stage and we're all going to hate each other eventually. Because it's not gonna happen!!!)
Voici quelques images ! Apprécier !
(French is hard. So I'm trying to use it everyday)

(We named our apartment DONTÉ. Somehow naming things just makes them more likeable)
